4 Simple Ways To Use Coconut Oil this Winter

Winter is coming and with the cooler months ahead, there’s a lot to look forward to...like dry skin, cracked lips and parched hair. Let’s face it, in the coming months, your body is going to be desperate for moisture. Fortunately, coconut oil is ultra nourishing and packed with much needed moisture.

Here are a few ways to use coconut oil to make your winter skin a little bit more comfortable to live in.

How to Use Coconut Oil in Winter

1 - Deep Condition Your Hair

Wind and cooler temperatures can leave your hair dry, brittle and unmanageable. You can use coconut oil to breathe life, and moisture, back into your locks. All you’ve got to do is grab some coconut oil, massage it through your hair from root to tip and make sure every strand is saturated. Once you’ve worked the oil through your hair, tie your hair up into a super tight bun, wrap a towel around your head and then go to bed. In the morning wash your hair thoroughly and then style as usual.

2 - Gloss up Those Lips

If you’ve got some old lipsticks lying around, don’t throw them away! You can use the remaining pigments to create a nourishing lip gloss and banish chapped and cracking lips. All you do is scoop the leftover lipstick out of the tube, mix it with some coconut oil and voila, you’ve got a super sleek and ultra moisturizing lip gloss. For lots of colour, only add a little bit of coconut oil. If you want a very sheer lip gloss, add more coconut oil. It’s a great way to create a look that’s uniquely your own.

3 - Remove Your Makeup

Coconut oil is an ultra nourishing way to remove your makeup before you go to bed at night. All you do is massage a small amount of coconut oil onto your face and then gently sweep a cotton pad over your skin to remove the excess oil and dirt. Using coconut oil to remove your makeup removes a tonne of dirt and oil from our skin AND it leaves your skin super moisturized, which is great for the winter months ahead.

You can even make your own Coconut Oil Makeup Remover Wipes!

4 - Oil Pulling for a Dazzling Smile

Your smile is just as important in the winter months as it is in the summer months. Oil Pulling is a simple practise of swishing an oil in the mouth for a few minutes every day before brushing your teeth. This can easily be done with a simple jar of coconut oil, but if you want something easier and more effective than Keeko Morning Mint Oil Pulling sachets are you new best friend.
