Acne, it really sucks. You have tried everything from expensive face washes to DIY honey masks and spot treatments and nothing seems to make a difference.

Well what if we told you that it could actually be your oral health that is causing your break outs. We know, we know, sounds totally crazy right?

HEALTHY TEETH, HEALTHY FACE

Yeap you heard it right. The health of your teeth and gums can have a huge impact on your overall health, including your face. Studies have shown that the bad bacteria from an infected tooth or gum can get onto your face and cause break outs.

Whilst we know this is not necessarily always the case, it is something to consider if you are the person that has tried everything and nothing has worked.

LEARN TO READ YOUR ACNE LIKE A MAP

Your face is like a map and each area can be linked to somewhere in your body. If you tend to break out around you lower cheeks, lips and your chin this could be a sign that you need to up your oral care game.

TIPS TO REDUCE ACNE

If you have the sneaky suspicion that your acne could be linked to your oral health try and get into a better routine like brushing twice a day and using floss after every meal. As a tonne of bacteria lives on your tongue using a tongue cleaner can be a game changer. Also consider adding in an oil based mouthwash which is not only great for your teeth and gums, but has been clinically shown to reduce gingivitis.

Booking in to see your dentist is also a really good idea. They will be able to see if you have any gum disease, cavities or tooth infections that may be causing your break outs.
